Tuesday in Baltimore was a great day, even though we all started out pretty cranky due to lack of sleep. This whole area is very green with trees, etc. and the drives have been really pretty.
We started off the morning by going to the National Aquarium in Baltimore, which is a good one. There were many volunteers around who were always willing to answer questions about what you were seeing; sometimes before you even asked them. Besides fish, there was a rainforest exhibit and an Australian exhibit. It was all very interesting and the kids loved it.

After the aquarium and lunch, we traveled by water taxi over to Fort McHenry. Unlike a regular taxi, these were really kind of slow to travel by, but fun. They give you a great view of the Baltimore Inner Harbor, which is really cool. Fort McHenry was crucial to protecting Baltimore during the War of 1812 and is where Francis Scott Key wrote the poem we now know as the Star Spangled Banner. It was not as big as I thought it would be, but was neat to walk around in.

Once we were finished at Fort McHenry it was off to the baseball game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Kirsten and I came here for a game back in 1993 when the stadium was only a year old and it still looks as good as it did then. It was the first of the new wave of ballparks that were build in the old style (small, baseball only, lots of bricks) and it is still the best. There are so many neat features that, if you like baseball and you are ever in this area, you really should see a game there.

We met our friends Becky and Mike Moshenek at the game and it was great getting to spend some time with them. I've known Becky since we were in the sixth grade and Kirsten and I both went to high school with her. We were also in their wedding 19 years ago. Their daughter, Katie and Julianna really hit it off and I'm sure they'll become good pen pals. After the game, we drove back to their house in Eldersburg, MD and spent the night with them, catching up on old times. The kids had a ball together and stayed up until 1:00am playing video games. Thanks Mike and Becky for your gracious hospitality!
