Wow! What a long day.
After arriving in Newark, NJ (only because that's where the non-stop went to), we wandered our way through one of the busiest airports I've ever been in, without too much trouble. We picked up our Dodge Caravan rental and headed south on I-95. Our first stop was to be Washington's Crossing State Park, where they commemorate George Washington's crossing of the Delaware river in 1776. Well, as we cruised down the New Jersey Turnpike, we somehow missed where we were supposed to turn off to get to Trenton, NJ. After about 45 minutes of backtracking, we finally located the park, only for it to be closed fifteen minutes ago. Using the fine GPS navigation that comes with my iPhone (you should really get one if you don't have one), we managed to find our way to the banks of the Delaware, as you can see from the photos. Being there was very cool, even though it was starting to get dark. Despite the bad rap it usually gets, New Jersey (other than Newark) is really very lovely and green, with many trees.
Now starving, we tried to find someplace to eat dinner (at 9:30pm local time) and settled for a Friendly's. Settling is the operative word. Understaffed and slow, it was far from the nicest dinner we've ever had, but when you're starving, at least it was food.
We finally arrived at our hotel in downtown Philadelphia at 10:30pm, in the pouring rain. Ever since landing in Newark, it has been very cloudy and off and on rainy. I hope it clears up tomorrow. Our hotel is right across the street from city hall, which is very cool.
Exhausted. Must. Sleep. Now.
